New virtual reality documentary film ‘Alex Honnold: The Soloist VR’ charts the breathtaking journey of the ‘Free Solo’ star as he makes his way across the USA and Europe including the iconic El Capitan ascent in Yosemite National Park and Mont Maudit – the Cursed Mountain. Red Bull TV series ‘Making the Soloist VR’ goes behind the scenes to show just how this innovative technology was employed to capture the 3D 360° experience in the most extreme environments. Alex Honnold is a professional rock climber whose free-solo ascents of America’s biggest cliffs have made him one of the most recognized and followed climbers in the world. 命綱や道具を使わずに危険な岸壁を登るクライミングのジャンル“フリーソロ”で随一の実力を誇るアレックス・オノルド。10歳のころ、カリフォルニアのクライミングジムでクライミングを始めてからクライミングに魅せられたという。世界中の過酷なロケーションでのクライミングを成功させてきた彼が、人生の目標としていたヨセミテ国立公園にある花崗岩の一枚岩、エル・キャピタンに2017年挑戦。約975メートルもの絶壁を登り切った様子は、『ナショナルジオグラフィック』によって映像化されている。ヨセミテのハーフドームを丸腰で初制覇した唯一の人としても有名。
